Hello Fellow Steemers,
I am excited to join this growing and generous community! On my first day I ran into a post where a man needing back surgery to treat his cancer has already raised more than he had asked for. What an amazing community of people that are willing to give to a person in need. Just seeing that told me that there is huge potential for Steemit because of the quality of the Steemers on the platform.
A little about myself, I work in the Healthcare Technology world where I build and implement solutions for hospitals. I recently completed a big project to launch a new teaching hospital. I have a passion for technology which began back in the days of the Commodore 64 and then MS DOS. I remember asking my dad to teach me all of the dos commands, so that I could play video games of course... But that passion has remained over the years and it led to a great career through which I can provide for my wonderful wife and daughter.
Outside of work, my interest in technology inclined me to pursue a masters in the field which is where I first was introduced to cryptocurrency back in 2013. We actually took a trip to Singapore as part of the program and that is where I met a lot of passionate people working on the technology and espousing its potential. Back then I found it interesting and cool but too risky to invest in but with 20/20 hindsight I wish I did. Still I have to say that it is amazing to see a great many of the predictions that those folks made come to past. There was this one girl who was running a startup that was creating a Bitcoin payment system. She was schooling us on how it isn't just about Bitcoin but cryptocurrency in general and that someday there will be hundreds. She was ahead of her time and don't I wish I had given more credence to what she had said.
So that leads to today where I have made a big investment into cryptocurrencies and this time I will pay more attention to those who are passionate about the technology and willing to share their knowledge and vision for the future. Which has led me here to Steemit. The way I see this is not just another social media site it is a whole new monetization model for content creators. Where else can you earn hundreds for just introducing yourself which some on Steemit have already achieved. I think the writing is on the wall, even for Youtube, once Google panicked and started to demonetize the posts of popular Youtubers after advertisers started to pull out. Not only that, but liking or upvoting a post has a whole different meaning once money is attached to it.
All in all, I have invested big into Steem because I believe that the future for Steemit is bright. I can't wait to see where all of this goes but I trust that the community will continue to grow.
