Collaborating in a Digital World!

Slack and Sanbox make it easier to meet and collaborate in real time than ever! Although Asia Initiatives and the Wagner Institute are hundreds of miles from each other, we have found avenues for collaboration based upon our mutual missions and interests.

Asia Initiatives is a nonprofit based in New York that strives to empower women worldwide. One of our key goals is to encourage education initiatives in the developing world. We try to partner with local communities, encourage learning and create incentives to keep girls in school and train women to become economically independent. In our recent project in Lucknow, we partner older girls with younger girls to create a chain network of knowledge flow through the community as a whole. This encourages the sharing of ideas, thoughts and creative content that affects the larger community as well.

Our Collaboration with the Wagner Group focused on one major goal. To understand each other’s missions and to actively learn from each other’s programming. AI believes that there is always room for improvement, which comes from sharing and collaborating with other actors in the field. We used Slack’s messaging feature to connect with individuals from the Wagner Institute and find out more about their programs. The Wagner Institute’s goals most closely aligned with our own we were excited to learn about their various initiatives. Specifically, AI loved Wagner’s program to offer College Classes to the community. This, we believe encourages students to participate in higher education and increase their potential in the workforce.

Asia Initiatives hopes to continue to learn from excellent organizations like the Wagner Institute. As we explore the question of social change in a continuously changing world, it becomes increasingly important to always stay connected, to learn, empower and change each other’s lives for the better.
