Authoritarians, regardless of which side of the political aisle they come from, loathe libertarians because of the very fact that they can not force or entice us to join their particular faction or brand of Statism. So as a libertarian, I personally choose to shine a light on, and destroy the fictional narratives, mysticism, lies, and political rhetoric they espouse. I don't expect them to stop being authoritarians as a result. But it does become increasingly difficult for them to keep telling people that Santa Claus is real when there are people like me who are out there informing the ignorant masses that Santa Claus is a fiction of the mind. And since it can be proven that the "belief" in having legitimate central planning authorities is purely faith based, and not objectively true, once someone hears that truth, they will never again fall for the lies.
Just look out there on the landscape. In particular throughout social media platforms. Whereas, libertarians were very small in numbers and never even mentioned just a decade ago, now it is a very recognizable word. People's curiosity usually gets the best of them eventually. And in the age of information, it is that much easier to learn some cold hard truths about what true freedom means. It was quite easy to hide these truths in the past because very few people had access to the kind of books, literature, philosophical teachings, and historical knowledge that is just a few clicks away now.
I have coined my own phrase for this new era of the internet and instant information. I called it The Enlightenment era 2.0. And libertarians are definitely leading the way as far as giving people the information they need to be free human beings in the 21st century. It won't happen overnight, and there will be some serious growing pains along the way. But I wouldn't sell my soul or principles out to any political gang just for the hope of a quick fix that is far more Utopian than doing the hard work and putting in the time.
