Building your ark

One of my favourite stories from the Bible when I was growing up was the story of Noah’s Ark.
I suspect that as a young animal lover, I was fascinated by the thought of sharing a boat with two of every kind. As a child, that was a fascinating concept.
In this story, found in the book of Genesis, Noah was told by God to build the ark because He was going to destroy the world through a massive flood. So he gathered two of every kind of animal and put them on the ark to replenish the world after the flood waters had subsided.
As I was contemplating this story again recently, an important principle struck me.
Noah heard the message, had a plan and started building before a cloud appeared in the sky.
I can’t help but feel that many people know what they are meant to do with their lives, but they are waiting for the right moment to start.

So, instead of building immediately, they wait until the clouds appear.
Instead of starting on their dreams, they wait for further confirmation, wasting valuable time.
Instead of taking action towards their destiny, they hesitate, afraid to move forward.
Instead of responding to their calling, they act as if they haven’t heard it properly.
But here’s the important thing to note from this story.
If you wait until the clouds appear, you’ll be too late and you probably won’t be able to complete your task.
So start now.
Do something today that will take you closer to your goals.
You have all of the information that you need, so don’t wait any longer.
It will take years, perhaps even decades to complete your task. For much of that time, you will look to the skies, it will be completely blue and some people will think that you’re crazy.
But if you keep building, keep progressing, keep growing, the clouds will appear and your faith will be rewarded.
What are you building with your life?
