Rainbow village is one of the village located in semarang, central java. Formerly, this village was named Brintik Mountain Village and a few months ago this village included a slum village.
The initial idea of the establishment of this village is the Kalisari Flower Market is expected to be a major tourist destination. however, it is not supported by the slum village behind it.
From there, the idea to renovate the village began. To renovate the village to be like now requires funds worth Rp 3 billion.
This is not the first colorful hometown in Indonesia, but this village is the target of photos uploaded in social media. Because of its popularity in social media, this village also had become the world's attention and reported by foreign media such as The Independent and Mirror.
According to the mayor of Semarang, the village is expected not only to improve its outward side, but to improve its inner side such as reducing poverty level.
Sure enough, thanks to the popularity of this village. Many local and foreign tourists came there. From there, residents get more income.
The rainbow project to date has not been fully completed. Noted there are still about 100 homes that have not done renovation.

Kampung pelangi adalah salah satu kampung yang terletak di semarang, jawa tengah. dulunya, kampung ini bernama kampung Gunung Brintik dan beberapa bulan yang lalu kampung ini termasuk kampung yang kumuh.
Ide awal pembentukan kampung ini adalah adanya Pasar Bunga Kalisari yang diharapkan menjadi destinasi wisata utama. namun, hal tersebut ternyata tidak didukung dengan adanya kampung kumuh di belakangnya.
Dari situlah, ide untuk merenovasi kampung tersebut bermula. Untuk merenovasi kampung tersebut menjadi seperti sekarang membutuhkan dana senilai Rp 3 milyar.
Ini bukanlah kampung warna-warni pertama di Indonesia, namun kampung inilah yang menjadi sasaran foto yang diupload di sosial media. Karena kepopulerannya di sosial media, kampung ini juga sempat menjadi perhatian dunia dan diberitakan oleh media-media asing seperti The Independent dan Mirror.
Menurut walikota Semarang, kampung ini diharapkan tidak hanya memperbaiki sisi luarnya saja, melainkan memperbaiki sisi dalamnya seperti mengurangi tingkat kemiskinan.
Benar saja, berkat kepopuleran dari kampung ini. banyak wisatawan lokal dan asing berdatangan kesana. Dari situlah, warga mendapatkan pendapatan lebih.
Proyek kampung pelangi sampai saat ini belum sepenuhnya rampung. Tercatat masih ada sekitar 100 rumah yang masih belum dilakukan renovasi.
