These days I am attending English class to improve my English. I have also taken IELTS test before. This is of my sample essay from the test I took last week. Hope this help for those who is taking IELTS exam in the future and I do appriciate if you guy can give me some feedback.
Comparison of Higher education between two countries
"Many people believe that getting higher education is one of the most valuable investments in their lives for the better future. Many countries are working together to improve the education systems for their citizenships. The education standard in first world country, Canada, and the third world country, Myanmar, differs in many ways. There are some people who prefer Canada’s reputable post-secondary education while other prefer Myanmar’s stress-free learning environment. Three main areas related to cost, certification and recognition and cultural expectation will be discussed.
The cost of study is the first thing to consider when it comes to make a decision of applying a college. The tuition fees to attend institutions in Myanmar are generally very affordable compared to Canada. Due to cheaper tuition, one cannot expect higher standard of learning experience. It is very common that schools don’t have computer lab, library and many graduates don’t know how to use computer, internet and email in Myanmar. In contract, the more expensive cost of study in Canada enable students to obtain better learning experience. Facilities such as Computer labs, resourceful library and accessible to high speed internet are compulsory for many schools in Canada. Therefore, graduates from Canada are more prepared to start their careers and do well in their fields of work. However, the high tuition fee in Canada can be an obstacle for one’s dream to acquire higher education. Thus, the number of people attending colleges in Myanmar is greater than Canada.
The ultimate goal of every student is to have highly recognized qualification. The certificates from Myanmar are only recognized in its own country. That means students from Myanmar will face many challenges if they want to do further studies overseas. It is not the case for students in Canada because certificates from Canada are internationally recognized and highly respected. Hence, more options are given for graduates from Canada to continue their studies anywhere in the globe.
Every country has unique cultures which influence the expectations for higher education. In Myanmar, teacher-centered approach is implemented in many schools. Students’ opinions and participations in lesson are optional. As a result, students in Myanmar are lack in confidence when it comes to speaking in public or working with a group. On the contrary, Canada education system encompasses student enrichment in many aspects not only in academic but also in personal development like teamwork, discussion and interpersonal skill.
In order to choose which country’s higher education for one is very crucial decision and remember to consider the cost of study, the outcome of certification and the learning culture. Taking all these into consideration, this essay will give some ideas for future students to choose their optimum education for their future."
