A funny story from my childhood

In the spirit of the Fourth of July I would like to share with you a funny story from my childhood:

When I was a kid, it seemed like anything that could go wrong with wrong for me. I was a walking accident. I fell all the time, bumped my head all the time, and pretty much anything else you could imagine.

Well, this day was one of my favorite holidays! I couldn't wait to go out and shoot some fireworks. I watched both of my older brothers out throwing bottle rockets. I thought it was awesome watching them fly into the air and explode so high! I decided I was going to try! Sounding like an accident yet? Well, as I went to light the bottle rocket I was holding my mom came up, snatched my lighter, and told me that I WAS NOT THROWING A BOTTLE ROCKET! Knowing she was probably right, I said ok and she gave me something to hold my bottle rocket so she could be sure it didn't blow up in my hand.

Being a little bummed out that I couldn't shoot the bottle rocket the way I wanted to, I decided to go with it and shoot it the way mom had instructed. I went and set on the front porch steps, bottle rocket held into place, I light it. I scoot over a few feet to ensure I do not get burned by the flames. In a heartbeat the rocket goes up, hits the awning directly over my head. This propels the rocket straight back down into the back of my shorts! Needless to say, the rest of my holiday wasn't that great! 😂. Remind your kids fireworks are not toys and they should use them with extreme caution. Always check your surrounding before firing off something that can explode!
