When to Visit

Pittston puts itself as the “Quality Tomato Capital of the World”. Thousands of fairgoers attend the annual Pittston Tomato Festival to see if any of this is true. Now on its 28th year, the celebration in downtown Pittston is held on the second or third week of August. The celebrations include marathons, tomato fights, tomato beauty contests, tomato tasting contests, beauty pageants, parades, and plenty of live entertainment. More than fifty thousand people attend the four-day celebration yearly, making it as one of Northeastern Pennsylvania’s best festivals.

Tourist Attractions

The popular sports complex of The Ice Box is Pittston’s most visited attraction. The complex is a mega ice skating rink and also features an arena. Downtown Pittston has newly renovated sidewalks all centered on a brick theme. There are colorful sidewalks and street crossings. Sign posts and black street lights enhance downtown’s appearance.
