The forecast for Thursday night had been rain/snow/rain and this is what I found on Friday morning.
I had to go out to clear and sand the steps around the house and it was pretty slippery.
But because it was raining, it was relatively warm. I had to put my YaxTrax back on my shoes.
Even with them, my feet were slipping around if I wasn’t careful.
I’d forgotten to feed the birds the night before, so I had to trek around the house in the rain to do it. When I went to the barn in the car, it was slipping all over the driveway.
I got everything except the dishes done: lunch made, breakfast made, clothes packed with book, and then Tom called. I’d forgotten to make the milk order. But I was ready by 9:10AM when my neighbor picked me up for exercise class.
On Wednesday I had graduated to 1 lb weights on wrists and ankles. I can’t use barbells because I can’t know my hands won’t drop them on my feet. Once class was done, I changed out of “gym” clothes and sat and read for an hour until the meal was ready. I’d brought a sandwich, salad, and dessert of my own.
The first of the TED talks after the meal was delightful. Benjamin Zander is an engaging speaker and we were all enthralled by his presentation. The link to see him is under the photo.
The next talk was Sirena Huang. She was 11 years old when she made this TED talk. It was amazing watching her play at such a very advanced level.
The Senior van brought me home and I was completely exhausted. But I was delighted to see that the brief sunshine had melted all the snow.The busy week had caught up with me. I just rested until bedtime.
On Saturday my friend and I are going to an Orchid Show. Afterwards we are going to a sugarhouse for brunch. It’s to be a sunny cold day, so the view at the sugar house should be lovely.
