Our solar panels are a leased system, installed in January 2011. I’d sort of noticed something was off back in March when a bill like this arrived:
This is May’s bill, and I should have been paying attention. But there’s gardens, an addition, food preservation, chicks, health…. So I didn’t pay attention to it. The credit wasn’t decreasing, so…
Then I get an e-mail from SunRun; seems after 3 months they noticed something was off. They were going to send someone out, eventually. It was at the back of my mind that they were supposed to replace the inverters last year, at year 7, as they start to fail then. Perhaps this was it?
A nice young man arrived yesterday morning and checked out both inverters and the systems and they are functioning perfectly. He also checked out our farm, was fascinated, especially with the chickens. And learned a little geographic history of our area, like he was from Africa (Templeton, MA).
You’d think, after all my complaints about the rain over the last 2½ years, something like this would have appeared before. But it didn’t, until this spring. It seems the red arrow is pointing at the problem, at least from what the service person saw.
As to why we aren’t using electricity with 5 freezers, 3 fridges, 2 dehydrators….he doesn’t know. Said to contact the provider, not that they will give us any answers….
