Saturday morning the moon was setting over the northwest as the sun was coming up.
The pasture coop had been sitting in the same place since last year. The tires had disintegrated and I’d ordered new ones. I got flat-less ones this time. The coop had to move as it was where we put the snow when plowing. So Tom came out late morning and put the new tires on and fixed the bent axle on one side.
Once the tires were on, he was able to easily push it up next to the dirt pile, out of the way of plows.
Another job was to move the rotten round bales from the edge of the drive over into the old manure area at the end of the barn. He managed to do it with the forks attached to the bucket of the tractor. You can see the disturbed area where they were and how he pushed one into the dirt pile to get it on the forks.
The drive between the turnout and the layer pen had gotten very rutted up. He used the box blade and the bucket and was able to smooth it out pretty well.
This will make plowing much easier this year. Now we just need to get the truck back from repairs….
The helper with the broken arm showed up just after lunch time and I set him to cleaning out the New Herb garden where my helper friend had left off. He got a good part of it done before it got dark.
I got both stoves going late Saturday afternoon and went up to tend the cats. The house looked so cozy from the barn, with the glint of lights from the Christmas tree showing from the dining room window.
On Sunday the helper with the broken arm may come and we will work on cleaning out the store room and getting stuff into the new attic. Plus all the Christmas boxes have to be brought downstairs and the bed frame brought up from the spare room.
And I have window lights to put up and bubble lights to get on the tree.
