Transformation in Geometry
According to the Minity Maths Youtube channel, there are four transformations in math. To transform a shape is to change its size or position.
Translations
The movement of a shape left or right and/or up or down; vertical horizontal or diagonal movement; the sliding of a shape. Translation can be described by movement on a grid in units on the y and x axis.
Reflection
Reflection changes the shapes position by mirroring it across a line.
Rotation
Rotation describes the movement of a shape around a fixed point (origin), usually described in degrees and as either clockwise or counter clockwise.
Enlargement/Shrinkage
Enlargement changes the shapes size on scale. We need the scale factor and the center of enlargement.
