Sand extraction-soil theft; Helpless naval police!

image.png

Sand and soil thieves have become active in Ishwardi of Padmanadi. Dredgers are being used to remove sand from different points of Padmanadi every day from 10 pm till dawn. And in broad daylight, soil is being stolen from different banks of Padma river. The stolen land is being sold to buyers in different areas including brick kilns. Hundreds of crores of rupees are being traded every day and night by extracting soil and sand worth lakhs of rupees. But the revenue is not being given to the government. However, despite the Pakshi Naval Police Outpost being in charge of extracting sand from the Padmanabha and stealing soil from the river banks, it has not been able to stop these crimes or arrest the thieves. Because even though it is a naval police outpost, it does not have the necessary manpower and transportation.
