World Bank Managing Director (MD) Anna Beard reiterated the World Bank's strong support for Bangladesh to achieve upper-middle income country status by 2031. After his first visit to Bangladesh on Sunday, he said deep macroeconomic and financial sector reforms are urgently needed to sustain inclusive growth. Bizzard said, Bangladesh's story of economic growth and development is inspiring for many countries.

In a statement at the end of the visit, he said, swift and bold reforms in monetary and fiscal policy will enable Bangladesh to maintain macroeconomic stability, reduce financial sector risks and sustain inclusive growth amid global uncertainty. Bizard met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and praised the development of the country. Today, almost all boys and girls go to school and almost every home has electricity. He thanked the Prime Minister for providing shelter to the displaced Rohingya community and promised Bangladesh's cooperation in meeting the needs of the local community as well as them until their safe and voluntary repatriation.
