It is Pakistan's Independence Day, today.
All pakistanis are quite passionate in celebrating this day, specially the youngs.
We, elders, feel very proud seeing the youth of the nation taking part in these activities.
Children take part in the celebration by wearing the dresses that mimic the national flag.
Houses are decorated with flags and bunting.
During my childhood days (somewhere between late 70s and 80s. This would be the case for other children who were born after 1947.), the grandpas and grandmas used to pass their experiences during the migration and events the faced during the movement of independence.
May be, elders would still be sharing the stories heard from their grandfathers/grandmothers with their grandchildren.
TV Channels present special shows, talk shows, dramas, movies, children programs on this day, themed Indpendence Day.
What I don't like about the celebration is some of the youth show their excitement in a very dark way, by firing. This normally cause harms to many people. This has happened in Karachi last mid-night.
These are a very few people, though. We should not turn this day into Mourn Day for some families.
Healthy activities, as mentioned above, are good. Partying, etc, must be welcomed in a thoughtful way.
