Introducing the HIVE Blockchain Society!

HIVE is a non-profit organisation based in Brussels.

It started out with small gatherings where people with no knowledge were mixed up with blockchain enthusiasts. This resulted in a fun way to introduce this emerging technology to people.

Today we added a full program to our events containing professional speakers, workshops and presentations of companies actually using blockchain.

Objectives

HIVE’s main goals are to:

  • Create a multidisciplinary community of blockchain enthusiasts and experts (developers, investors, entrepreneurs, etc.).
  • Organize events, conferences, seminars, workshops or any other event activities.
  • Promote the understanding of Distributed Ledger Technologies (mainly blockchain) and its potential for decentralization, its different applications and challenges.
  • Inform the Belgian and international community about the blockchain sector development.
  • Be a think tank and influence the evolution of DLT’s by developing blockchain related projects.

The Team

HIVE’s core team is composed of five singular individuals with their specific backgrounds ranging from development to entrepreneurship, including consulting, trading and business analysis.

Each member’s expertise allows HIVE to cover all aspects of the blockchain sector, informing its audience in the best way possible.

This coalition of different profiles is representative of HIVE’s ambition: to put up a community of blockchain enthusiasts, incorporating all types of profiles that might have an interest in the emergence of this technology.

Globally, the project also benefits from the help of several other members regarding the organisation of its events, its communication or the legal aspect of its development.

Structure

HIVE represents the community as a whole but is itself segmented into different sub-hives; each focusing on a specific topic, bringing together people who have a common interest.

The Crypto-Club (Investing & Trading)

The place where investors and cryptocurrency traders share thoughts and insights on the current market situation. It goes way beyond shilling your biggest holdings. Bears & Bulls come together in the dedicated Slack Channel to express their opinions and exchange valuable information.
From time to time, the gatherings happen in real life through dinners or meetings organised by the Crypto-Club, allowing attendees to challenge blockchain related projects pitching themselves in front of the audience.

The Crypto-Cave (Mining Activities)

If you own a mining facility, are obsessed with Cloud-Mining or would like to understand the difference between CPU and GPU, the Crypto-Cave will suit you. Here, experienced and soon-to-be miners share their tips and advices on the mining gear they use, the way they optimize their electricity consumption or any other mining related topics.

GitHive (Technical Aspect)

Enter the developer’s lair, focusing on practical use cases, smart contracts and other technicalities of the blockchain technology. The aim here is to bring all those brilliant minds together in order to challenge and develop blockchain related projects.

HIVE Students (Learning Ressources)

This is a blockchain study room. Students writing a thesis or a paper on any aspect of the technology can exchange useful resources, helping each other master this complex topic to further democratize its understanding. In addition to this, HIVE can connect those students with professionals who might help them in their researches as well as businesses looking for dedicated interns to join their teams.

All those sub-hives merge during HIVE’s main events, where newcomers and experts come together to imagine how our society will be shaped by the emergence of blockchain.

To make sure you don’t miss any of those, keep on reading.
