Wish you a wonderful week ahead everyone!
Today I present you an easy activity I've made with my toddler, considering he's in love with Math...lol 😂
This activity was really easy for him but I needed a couple of minutes to make an important call so here it is! Actually he was done when I bearly put my hands on the phone 😂😂 but he continued to play with them so I did managed to get my things done as well.
We made this a couple weeks ago (2-3) when the rosehips were still nice and beautiful. If you don't have any rosehips, maybe you could replace them with leaves, beans, nuts, peanuts, hazelnuts, accorns or whatever you have in hand.
Also, as you can see, I set up a Sensory Tray with ivy plant leaves, more rosehips, wood slices, muhroom deco and wooden leaves. I set up this sensorial activity for him in order to feel and explore the different textures, learn and mostly important, PLAY!
Independent play is the best! Imagination, creativity are developed when they are playing alone and they need to decide how to use the materials and what to do with them or how to play with it.
Not to mention that my biggest joy of all this was to use these rosehips.
Why?
Well, thats because they make this activity Nature Inspired and Environmental Awareness. The fact that Caleb could touch and experiment those small rosehips was a good thing.
He asked questions like :what are these? What are they for?Why are they red color? etc
Actually. we picked them up together from the yard of our old house but even though he was present in collecting them, when he started to play with them, he continued to put questions and ofc, I provided him the answers he was looking for plus more infos and details.
I consider this is one of the ways of how to teach our children about nature. Let your child connect with the outside world, let them explore in order to develop their self conscious about earth and nature!
