Interactive applications to promote Reading.

Hello to all the members of this beautiful community of @homeedders. One of the concerns that all good parents and educators have is that our little ones manage to develop their communication skills well, with emphasis on reading and writing because they are the basis of learning. The love for reading is something that develops from a very early age, even from the moment of birth we can establish an emotional bond through reading with our children, tell them stories and enjoy with them the discovery of all that books have to show.

I am an advocate of physical books, that is to say, the text that you can touch, caress and hold in your hands, my best gift is and will always be a book. But, I must recognize that technology has transformed the way in which we approach literature and although I have resisted it in this aspect, I must give value and credit to the good educational applications in the area of reading that can be found and collaborate with the home education of children and young people.

Today I want to talk about Playtales this is an App that you can download on your cell phone, it is free, with additional components that you can download with very low single prices. This App has the possibility to have a library of interactive stories that are suitable for children from 0 to 12 years old. In Playtales you will find from the most classic stories to the most modern ones with a total to date of more than 200 stories.

The options are varied in terms of reading and the way in which the child accesses it, whether he/she wants to read alone or the application reads (i.e. with automatic playback). The books are presented in eight languages to choose from: English, Spanish, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, Chinese and Japanese. Another thing that I found interesting is that the application has a Facebook account from where they also send you updates and comments on the texts.

With the help of this application you can download to your phone the books you select and have the opportunity to read them even when you are not connected to the internet. The advantages of the application at an educational level are found by having a way in which the child can relate the written words with the sound, in this case, pronunciation of the same and in this way will strengthen the ear. Also, by having the stories in other languages, the child can practice and develop skills in other languages. For parents, it helps us when we are busy but want the children to be entertained in an educational way as well as when we are with them and want to enjoy a story. I have particularly reviewed the app and find it not only easy to use but also fun and educational. I hope you find it as useful as I do.
