The gear turned, interlaced with another, and another. His eyes traced the inner workings of the machine to the place where the light shone. klvn knew they were placed in a sort of spaceship but he wasn't sure exactly where they were or what had seized them. He tried to move toward the light but he was jerked back by the invisible chain on his feet. Struggling, the feeling of defeat consumed him but he wasn't ready to surrender. He was just as terrified as the others he recognized on the ship but if he was going to die on outer Earth, he might as well know what would be the end of him.

“It is no use. Save your strength for what is to come.”

Klvn was struck by this unfamiliar voice. He turned to his side to face one of the strangest beings he had ever set eyes on. Not that he had met extraterrestrials before his space travel, but still, he thought she was the most exhilarating being he had ever seen.

“We've all tried. We don't know what's out there. Sent here from planets across the universe because of that damn blood rain, only one thing is for sure, we are not alone and there are forces greater than that which we know.” She looked into Klvn’s eyes and he felt something move inside of him. Klvn stared at her in astonishment. Her body looked like a compact mass of the tiniest stars and stardust. The particles wafted like waves of smoke as she moved. “This thing, It has no face, no form. Just a voice and presence. You can almost feel it in you when it's close. It is like it's in you but then it feels as though it is in the next person. It is just unexplainable. Like an enigma.” Her voice reverberated inside Klvn’s head. Her lips didn't move but he could hear her. It was strange yet fascinating.

“How do you do that?” Klvn asked. He had resigned back to his position and let go of his quest to follow the light shining through a crack in the ship.

“I'm Ler, a galictian. It is our way,” she muttered. “Tomorrow, we enter ‘wen nede’ from behind. It says so on that map. That's all it says.”

Klvn looked in the direction of the map near what looked like a door. It had coordinates reading and pointing to a location labeled “wen nede”. His eyes then darted to the other races on the ship. Some had incredible forms but none as striking as Ler. One seated opposite him looked exactly like the beings portrayed in the Avatar movie he had seen back on Earth. Blue bioluminescent skin, tail with golden irises. The others to his far right had human forms but with glass-like eyes and tipped ears. He slightly nodded acknowledging their presence. They all looked tired and famished.

Klvn resigned into his thoughts processing the information he had just received as they awaited their fate. His mind raced back to earth. The wailing voices of his mother and sister rang in his head. His father's strong yet soothing words of advice followed. Instantly a surge passed through him and right there he knew, whatever they were going to face out there, he was not going to let the people of Earth down.

“We are Africans. First of our kind and we must think of something.” He whispered to the humans he had been on the previous ship with.

“I'm a drur. My ancestors were also the first ones on our planet too. All the others on the planet evolved from us millions of years ago.” The avatar-looking being spoke. His voice had a hint of bass in it.

“I'm also from the race of the earliest galictians,” Ler cut in. Her shimmering eyes flowed with curiosity. She looked at the glass-eyed being and he nodded.“One thing is clear now. We are all perceived to be the first of our kind. It is no accident that we are all here in this space in time,” she added.

Just then, an alarm went off followed by a siren sound. The place where a light shone in the ship began to beep red light. On the map, the location “wen nede” also began to beep. Soon, a mass of smoke began to fill up the middle space where they were held, hostage. Their vision turned blurry before they began to hear a swishing sound. The door opened revealing a vast expanse of land filled with trees, plants, exotic animals of all kinds, and mini-spaceships floating in the atmosphere. The sweet-smelling air, animal sounds, and cool breeze slapping against their suits gave them a feeling of euphoria. It was like a breathtaking urban jungle.

Their legs were automatically unchained. One by one they descended the ship into this space that they could not comprehend. With eyes wide open and raised brows, they suddenly heard a robotic voice.

“Welcome! The blood rain has now come to an end. Today, as colonies, pioneers, or whatever you chose to call yourselves, you have been chosen as the first of your kind to lead the mega planet. As you enter into ‘wen nede’ from behind, the universe has given you another chance to start all over again. To proliferate your races once again. Only this time, you do it together. I name you the first ancestors of the mega planet wen nede.”

Jolts of emotions and mixed feelings washed through Klvn. He could see it in the rest of them too. His eyes met Ler’s. “It is the universe. It had to be it all this time. There's no stronger force or presence than the universe,” she blurted out.

They all began to move around taking in all that was happening. They came to a signpost that read WEN NEDE but when they passed it and looked from behind, it read NEW EDEN.
