Down the Lane Part 2 - Dreem WOTW

“The gear turned, interlaced with another, and another. His eyes traced the inner workings of the machine to the place where the light shone.”

“Turn it up again” Fred recurred, he had always been constant in her life even more constant than Sheila even her name now brings gulps of pain down her throat like the bitter herbs she drank when she visited her grandmother’s estate.

She didn’t come with her car, “Who brings a car to commit suicide” she thought, hissing afterward "Elizabeth” Fred’s voice was thunderous this time and seemed to have an effect of the cloud.

She missed the British weather especially during springtime with the mud that soils clothes and the yellow blooms that fill Edinburgh. She missed the stroll through the Orchard, the smell of richness that fills the air.

“Just take the Passenger’s seat, I’ll drive” Fred said as he bent over to start the ignition, luckily, a low rumbling sound could be heard and so he throttled. “this battery” he murmured under his breath.

He had caught Lizzy she was often called, just in time before she made a grave mistake that would cost her a life and two. Thank goodness for stumbling up on her dairy well placed on the sitting table which seemed planned to him as though she kept it as a farewell message to her family and loved ones.

If only she knew how much he loved her, how he watched as she happily took the ring from that guy, he pillar, so when he broke her heart, and he knew she did. Adrian was her center and her pillar so when he broke her heart she broke down too.

They drove silently through the cool evening to his apartment city center, he couldn’t take her to her place, not like this, her eyes had a had a vignette effect around it showing just how long she had been crying.

They passed through Darwin street and she placed her head on the window glass her vie changing to Fred, he looked worried, has he been troubled as much as she had?, he looked tired too probably from doing two jobs and refusing every form of help from her.

Yet, he had always been there from the time she twisted her ankles in a hole he dug, she remembered how he helped her up to the house, before his transgression was discovered.
She still pitied him as she had heard the gardener’s son got the beating of his life that day.

Fred went to a different college, and high school but the duo kept the fire of friendship burning even with Adrianthen-best

She hissed as she remembered how she tried to set him up with her then best friend Sheila.

“He is not my type” Sheila had said, shoving that huge bunch of blond hair behind her. She thought of how she had admired Sheila’s hair and had an irking her throat, all it looked like now was the tail of the loosing horse in the London horse racing.

“We are here” Fred said, as he pulled over into the drive way, he had a nice apartment not lush like hers but it looked like home. She thought how contented Fred was even when they were younger, this gardener’s son was grateful for the little his parents had.

He walked her in, she took minutes to enter but once they were in, she regained some sort of energy and went straight for his fridge.
She was munching on something as he went to the kitchen to prepare dinner for them.

Seeing her eat and watch TV gave him some relief and joy that he was responsible for this new zeal and desire to live.

After several gushing nd whooshing sound from the kitchen, dinner was it finally ready. Lizzy had never knew rice could taste so good she stuffed in more using a cup of juice to wash it down.

“Do you like it?” Fred asked, She smiled and nodded, which was the first time sdessert for weeks.
“Mhmm” she manage to add.

Fred made a crème brûlée for desert and that was the turning point as the duo started arguing about sports and some other things they saw on TV.
He was glad he found her before the worse happened.

She slept soundly on his bed after he had offered to use the couch for the night,
“has he always been this good?” she said to herself, she felt herself wonder and flashes of all the good memories they had came gushing and made her chuckle.

She was grateful for having Fred in her life and then something else crossed her mind and she knew what it wmorningw did I not know I loved him?” she murmured amidst yawns of sleep as they beckoned to her into the night.
In her sleep she was happy and she was lauging and so was Fred.

“Good mornings Lizzy” Fred said, with a tray of muffins in his hands.
“Good morning Freddy” Lizzy said with a smile so bright it outshone the rising sun behind her, and signaled a start to new beginnings this time with a happy ending and she was sure.
