In Pursuit of Her Dreams.... part 3

This is the 3rd part of the story. Read 1st part and 2nd part

With pain in her whole body, she dragged herself to sit. Her clothes were torn at several spots. The stains of blood were also on it. She rubbed her arm over her face to clean the red fluid coming out of her nose. Groaning in anguish, she hauled her sore body towards a wall to lean against it. As soon as her back touched the wall, she yelped with a new pain. The spikes on the wall had pushed her away. Wrapping her arms around her legs she dropped her head on her knees.

She had a mixture of feelings. Despair, confusion, anger and helplessness had surrounded her. She could not understand why the place that was supposed to be her sanctuary was treating her with brutality. She was angry on her guardian for bringing her to the so-called haven in the name of security. She was feeling helpless about how she should get rid of her miserable circumstances. She was feeling like there was nothing that could take her out of her griefs and only worse would follow.

She wanted to scream out loud but her voice was choked in her throat. The room was echoing with sound of her sobbing but nobody there cared for it. Her clothes were being soaked with the salty water coming out of her eyes.

These happenings did not mark the end of her suffering. While she was trying to cope with the previous pain inflicted to her by her asylum, a storm arrived. The window rattled and the candles flickered. “If this window would close the path of fresh air and light would shutdown,” the thought made Ana to stand up at once. She ran towards the window to prevent it from closing.

When she was holding the window's doors, the wind blew on the candles. One of the candles fell on Ana burning her clothes while the rest were extinguished. Feeling the heat on her body she turned to save her from the fire.

As soon as her hands were removed from the window, the storm took its toll. The window closed with a loud bang.

Ana had managed to put out the fire from her clothes but there was no light anymore, neither from inside nor from outside. If she could see something now it was only the darkness. The total darkness. However she sensed some other things. The chain in her feet was getting stronger. It was branching out to spread to her legs and hands grasping her titighter. She was hearing the whispers taunting and mocking at her telling her how ugly and incompetent she was. There was the smell of blood and burned clothes and matter, making the atmosphere stinky.

How much time she spent in this condition, she did not know. There was no clue for day or night. Time was static. Every moment spread over the period of millennia. Each second was equally dark just like a grave.

Her sobs were drowned in the poisonous whispers. The fragrance of her perfumes could not compete with the stench of the atmosphere. Suddenly she felt as if she was being strangled. Throttled by the lack of oxygen she collected all her courage and heaved herself towards the window.

With her weak body grasped in chain and worn out by injuries she put her optimum force to open the window. She banged the window so hard that she fell back due to inertia. The window did not open but Ana had got another injury. The smell of fresh blood also entered into the atmosphere.

She tried to move but her body refused to help her. She felt extreme suffocation. Perhaps she was taking her last breaths. She pressed her ribs in the centre to make it easier for her to inhale. She was losing her consciousness.

Summoning all her strength, the only thing she managed to do before fainting was to utter a few words, “.............”
