So, today as I walked into my Cucumber garden to inspect how there are doing and to see if there is any problems with them, I noticed that some of the stands were under attack by pest..
This is one of the major problems in crop production, your ability to control pest and disease in your garden will determine if you are a successful farmer or not.
Crop protection is a strategies used to defend crops against weeds, pests, viruses, plant diseases, and other harmful factors. They can have devastating results considerably reducing or even destroying future crops. Farmers and scientists around the world are constantly working on control measures to eliminate unwanted impact.
And the experts have come to a common conclusion that protection is far more efficient than cure.
Luckily, the latest developments in modern agriculture provide various solutions.
So in our Cucumber plant today, I noticed some of the leaves becoming curly which is a sign of attack that has to be taken care of. There are several methods of dealing with such attacks with ranges from:
- Chemical methods
- Biological methods
- Cultural methods and so one.
The common method used is "Chemical method" but with the rising after effect this method has caused to human life, there is need to fine a sustainable method of controlling pest without causing harm to human life
Which is "organic method' which also protects the environment too.
For our method, we used organic insecticide we prepared from other leaves and parts of plants..
First is to identify the plants which was infected and cut out the infected leaves to avoid spread in the farm.
Next we sprayed with our organic solution to prevent more attacks from pest..
