I Saw The Blood Flow. #Memoirmonday.

Sometimes, things happen that seem very difficult for us to comprehend. We wonder how such could have happened. Most times, they don't look rational but they have happened anyway. When considering it from every rational point of view, one would be surprised why any sane person could undertake such an action.

The #memoirmonday initiative of @ericvancewalton is a platform where we can share memories of our experiences in life. Learn more about the #memoirmonday initiative here

It was a horrible day for my nephew. He was a young boy of not more than seven years at that time. We were just busy with our morning duties when we heard a painful cry from the boy. To the amazement of everyone in the community, the little boy was covered with blood from head to toe. I don't know how far I have exaggerated, but I remember that he was covered with blood. It was a fearful thing and a terrible sight to behold. Most of us could not help but join him in crying.

What Has He Done

That was the question from everyone around. The father did not say anything. The mother was scared to have witnessed that happen to her son. She tried to explain it to those who were asking.

The boy mistakenly broke a ceramic plate which is used in serving the father. This was offense enough to make a father use the broken pieces of the ceramic plate to inflict cuts on the boy’s body.

A Father’s Heart?

Could a father do that to his son? Does it even look real? But it absolutely is! What would be the worth of a plate that a father would almost kill his son because he broke the plate? Does it mean that the child has no value to this man other than the plate? This is why it looks irrational to believe.

Everything around us has different values. The way we treat each one of them depends on the value we accord to them. I must believe that humans are more valuable than items which we possess. I would not expect that we could go to the extent of threatening someone’s life because of mere items that money can buy. That was a horrible memory.
