I'm happy to write this post about Hive making its way to my motherland India. Delhi Technological University (DTU) host an annual event called Engifest. It is one of the most anticipated music festivals in India.

I came across a post on the Hive twitter account and from my research not much detailed information of Hive's involvement appeared apart from the promotional involvement.

Engifest which started in 1974 is usually held in the month of February and is a three-day-long event. This year thousands of people came together to enjoy a weekend of music and art.

The event turnout was impressive, with thousands of people attending the festival over the course of the weekend. Attendees enjoyed a diverse lineup of artists, including some of the most popular musicians and DJs from India and overseas.

The artist lineup included names such as:

Projects Like Hive Changing the Government's stance on Cryptocurrency

The college festival circuit is quite huge in India with events that span over days multi-day sometimes week-long schedule of festivities that draws attendance form all over the country and abroad. With adoption of blockchain technology, the Indian youth can prove to its top government officials that its' much more than gambling and there are a lot of applications that could help build communities.

I really feel with the adoption of platforms like Hive in the school and college circuit, once India gets put on the map and the world starts recognizing the strides in Web3 technology and the power of blockchain, the government might just change their stance. Maybe.

Blockchain Takes the Stage: How India's Music and Cultural Events Embrace Transparency and Innovation

Some projects have already paved the way for Hive. One notable example of a music event in India that used blockchain technology is the Sunburn music festival, which partnered with Viberate, a blockchain-based platform for the music industry, in 2017 to provide a more transparent and secure ticketing system.

Another example is the India Music Summit, a cultural event that took place in Jaipur in 2019, which used blockchain technology to track and verify the credentials of artists and speakers, ensuring that they had the necessary approvals and permissions to participate in the event.

In addition, there are several blockchain-based platforms in India that are working to promote and support the music and cultural industry, such as Mzaalo, which is a blockchain-based music streaming platform that aims to provide a fairer and more transparent revenue-sharing system for artists, and B-School of Happiness, which is a blockchain-based platform for arts and culture that offers digital certificates for events, performances, and other activities.

Hive Can Do All of This, More and Better!

Hive needs to get more deeply embedded with the Indian youth at school, college and the independent artist scene.
With the vast and ever-growing ecosystem Hive has for long format blogging, microblogging, social media, streaming, gaming communities, Hive is an ideal platform.

Decentralization will provide a fairer chance for artists to get exposure and establish themselves and growth would be community lead. Not Industry led.

I myself was very active in the Indian college festival scene back in 2004-2007 which paved my way into a dance career. I eventually got fed up of the industry and left. Here's a post I wrote last year on this:
