Healing Our Earth!

Theme: Things we can do to save Our Environment

I can almost feel it, so palpable, the smell of the Earth as it takes its first bath of the year, the ruddy fragrance that wafts across the Land and the freshness of the raindrops as they patter on the leaves, dripping silently down the tips to the soil. This is my Earth, our Earth, so pure and so beautiful. The Earth that my ancestors derived so much joy from and which is now being plundered by man.
The Earth is our own and the only one we have for that matter, we rely on it for the food we eat, the water we drink, and even the air we breathe, but it's unfortunate that humans have continued to treat it with disregard, without thinking of the consequences of our careless actions. We have not been good stewards to Mother Nature but the sooner we start making amends, the better for us and for generations yet unborn, It's very vital to honor and protect the Earth, not just for ourselves but for future generations.
It is a matter of urgency that we start reversing the damage done over time, and restore balance and beauty to our Earth once again.

We can start by carrying out little little actions, Individually and collectively, which would culminate in something very big over time.

  • Reduce trash by forming environmentally friendly habits, like reducing our plastic consumption. Plastic bags, water bottles and plastic utensils contributes majorly to the trash that ends up on landfills and oceans. Using eco-friendly and recyclable alternatives can help reduce this waste that's a problem to the environment.

  • Simple actions like turning off lights when not in use to reduce electricity usage, using energy-saving bulbs and appliances, helps to lessen the burden on the environment and on Mother Earth.

  • Conserving water is a very simple step that can help protect the environment. Taking shorter showers, fixing leaking pipes as soon as possible and generally reducing water usage.

  • Deforestation increases greenhouse gas pollution but planting a tree, at least a tree a year can help sort this problem. Planting and also nurturing can have lasting effects on the ecosystem.

  • Organic farming helps to reduce excessive use of chemicals which is encouraged by harmful agricultural practices. Natural products, does not only protect the environment but also our health.

  • Educate others, starting from our homes, raising awareness about the importance of environmental conservation, and the need to adopt eco-friendly practices, for a healthier environment. Education is key!

  • Reduce Carbon Footprint by using public transportation walking or biking or cycling instead of driving your car. This will also help with your health and improve your overall well-being.

  • Reducing meat consumption and increasing our vegetable intake, it is not about religion but about conserving our environment. Animal husbandry contributes significantly to greenhouse gas pollution.

These actions may seem small, but when adopted on a large scale, we definitely can contribute to a healthier, more sustainable Earth, not just for ourselves but for generations to come.
