High level of insecurity in my county

One question that came to my mind when I wanted to express quickly how insecure my country is, was "Is it only Nigeria that's insecure?"

Being honest here, a lot of countries are facing the same level of insecurity that my nation, Nigeria, is facing, and some of them are even worse off. But that won't stop me from saying how bad it is over here.

In Nigeria, one of the alarming issues, or let me say, problems, has been insecurity. Well, I don't know how it was in the days of my forefathers, but as far back as I can remember, I have seen Nigeria growing worse, with the insecurity rate increasing rapidly.

The features of this insecurity come in many forms. There's kidnapping, where the victims are either used for spiritual evil acts (sacrifices to deities) or kidnapped to demand ransom. There's also rampant killings, which are often the result of political clashes, especially during election seasons. There's also robbery, and in some parts of Nigeria, people cannot sleep with both eyes closed.

As it has been, there's no day that a bad event, especially involving killing, doesn't appear in the news—it’s inevitable. This is why I seldom pay attention to such news, as it can hurt my mental health.
My country is a place where the leaders don't give a damn about the lives of the citizens. There was a protest in 2020 where the government sent soldiers to shoot at peaceful protesters, and many lost their lives. Imagine that kind of act! Protesting is a human right, but come on, it can never be done peacefully here without citizens losing their lives.

If I had a chance to travel out, where would I go?

Just like I said in the beginning, no country is entirely void of this issue; it's just that it's lesser in some countries than in others. With all sincerity, if I had the opportunity to travel out, I would grab such an opportunity quickly, and that's what 90% of Nigerians are praying for. Of course, no one wants to live in a place that's not safe. Even the top politicians are living outside Nigeria.

Well, I don't have a particular country in mind, but it's surely going to be a country where I know that the lives of citizens are valued and the insecurity rate is very low.
Thanks!
