Using AI Image Generators - I'm Such A Newbie!

Cute image, I hear you say

True! But the image does not reflect what I wrote in the prompt at all, neither did any of the prompts I used spit out something I was impressed with. But as this little creature with blue eyes was worth using for something, I decided to share my experiences of AI image prompting so far.

Newbie

Learning about AI and using chatgtp (or other tools) but I haven't spent more than 30 minutes on creating AI images since it was released. I currently suck at it as prompting the right things is key here as with every AI tool out there. You HAVE to know exactly what you want, so that you're able to write a prompt that will give you the output you desire.

Late to the party

While I saw discord servers being flood with Midjourney outputs at some point, I never started using them, while I probably should so at least I developed some basic prompting knowledge for Midjourney early on. When I decided to check out these image creators, I bumped on Leap AI which is free to use so this was my first attempt to do anything related to images.

Midjourney curiosity

I bet I'm not the only one being impressed with some of the Midjourney outputs people use for their content. Some weeks ago, I decided to jump into their discord and hopefully start learning how to use MJ, sadly for me for some reason, I didn't get the bot to spit anything out for me. When asking a friend for advice after seeing her create amazing MJ outputs, she sent me a video which was a super simple way to see if my prompt was correct, and it was, I probably didn't pay enough attention the first attempts as now I was able to send out a prompt.

Sadly, I also got notified that due to high demand, free trials weren't available and a paid plan was needed, ugh. I hate it when my boyfriend is right as he told me to sign up tons of times and I kept postponing. Meaning I could have been playing around for free, while now I have to pay, haha. Oops.

Making a plan

As I have a few things where I'd like to use Midjourney for, I'm now making a plan to test this for a month in the most efficient way. I remember signing up for the paid version of ChatGTP and then being completely overwhelmed the first month, barely using it to it's potential and regretting for not learning about it before starting the paid plan. This time, I will do it as I should, first collect the ideas and prompts to then hopefully learn as I go and get better at prompting during the month. Just knowing roughly what I want to create is definitely not enough so I'm off watching tutorials and collecting templates of prompts for Midjourney so that I can edit them to my personal needs.

Monthly update

I will update how the month on paid subscription turned out and if I think it was worth it or that I'd recommend to learn a bit more before you pay for Midjourney. If you were or are in the same spot as I am and want to share your experiences and thoughts, I'd like to read them in the comment section.

Wish me luck :)
