Can you tell she's happy?

Introducing Aki

Just days before our first batch of kittens would leave, the universe sent us a sign to keep fostering. It was one of the volunteers sharing a kitten being stuck under a small building at the carwash not far from us. She heard her meow and she seemed all alone but too afraid to get from under the building simply because there was way too much noise there. The people washing their cars as well as the busy road on the other side of the building were simply too scary for this little baby to come out.

The volunteer also lived nearby and picked up the cage in the hope she could catch the kitten. She tried with food and luring her from under the building but the kitten was very scared. Thankfully, she could leave the cage in the building and would come back later to check on the little kitten.

Meanwhile, we were out for tapas and our car was (again) very dirty thanks to the sand here, it's insane but you actually need to wash your car quite often if you don't have a garage. I aimed to get to the carwash after we had tapas so I could see if the kitten was still there. Upon arrival, my boyfriend washed the car and my daughter and I went to the building and heard a kitten right away. I left a comment in the foster family group chat and asked if the cage was still there because we heard the kitten. She came right away.

Not only did she arrive but also another of the foster parents arrived who eventually took her home. We joined them to get her out of the cage and into a carrier so we were actually there when she was rescued and I asked my boyfriend shall we offer to foster her. He agreed and with this, we made a little girl very happy because she was surely going to miss the kittens when the last three would leave.

Just a few days until we could foster this one because first, the others needed to go to the new homes/temporary foster home (for those two traveling outside the province) and I also needed a few days to do a deep cleaning of the room as well as all the kitten stuff such as the playpen, carrier, litterbox, scratching post, pillow, toys, etc. Everything needed to be cleaned well and be able to dry as well.

The little kitten went to stay at another place as she needed to be quarantined as per protocol when capturing a street cat. In the first days, she saw the vet and was tested for Feline leukemia virus and Feline AIDS, which were both negative. She was treated for parasites and fleas and then she had to stay a few days until we could pick her up on Sunday.

We were all very excited and couldn't wait until Sunday arrived, especially not because on Friday a few videos were shared where she was playing and enjoying some cuddles. She looked a lot less scared, which is great!

Tomorrow I will write about her first day here and share some really cute pictures as well.
