“¡Mami, trajeron a Yaco!” Con este grito de alegría, una amplia sonrisa y unos ojos brillantes de entusiasmo fue recibido Yaco en su nuevo hogar, con su nueva familia.
Recuerdo cuando lo vi por primera vez, tan pequeñito, agazapado en un rinconcito del porche en casa de mi vecina de al lado, donde lo habían abandonado.
Un gatito valiente que nunca mostró temor ante Canela, la perrita que tiene mi vecina, de tamaño grande pero acostumbrada a los cachorros pequeños tanto de gatos como de perros.
De hecho, cuando descubrí al gatito por la mañana ya se habían hecho amigos. Pero mi vecina no puede agregar otra mascota a su casa, así que lo llevé a la casa donde vivo y comencé a compartir por las redes que tenía un gatito atigrado que debía ser adoptado.
En ese entonces no tenía nombre aún. Era pequeñito pero muy vivaz y comía de todo. Otra de mis vecinas, Sonia, tenía su gata con una camada de cuatro cachorritos. Me dijo que se lo diera a ver si la gata lo aceptaba para tenerlo en su casa mientras se le encontraba otro hogar para adopción.
Lo llevé a casa de Sonia, mientras ella sostenía la gata en brazos , le pasamos el gatito por el pelaje, para que tomara algo de su olor y así evitar un posible rechazo de su parte. Pero a su gatita no le gustó la idea para nada y cuando los colocamos cerca uno del otro en el piso, le dije:
“Si le da con la patita no lo querrá. Si lo lame es señal de aceptación”
La gatita me miró con displicencia y no hizo ninguna de las dos cosas… ¡Le gruñó! Bueno…ustedes saben…así como gruñen los gatos. Me imagino que se dice con otra palabra que ignoro.
Bien, regresé con el gatito a casa no sin antes tomarle unas fotos donde Sonia aparecía cargándolo.
Quedamos en difundir por las redes su necesidad de un nuevo hogar adoptivo.
Vi que Sonia había puesto en su estado “Yaco necesita ser adoptado” – palabras más, palabras menos – y me pareció un buen nombre para él.
Comenzamos a difundir su foto y decidí hacerle un video donde aparecía él y una voz en off que comenzaba diciendo “Hola, soy Yaco…”
Resulta que la gatita de la maestra Milagros Almenar había tenido una camada y ella le había prometido un gatito a Yudith, su amiga. Pero Milagros salió y al regresar se encontró con que ya su esposo lo había dado en adopción. Y Milagros es prima de Rosana Hernandez Pasquier (@petronila) quien es una de las dos madrinas de Confirmación de mi hijo Luis Felipe (@luisfe) quien recordó que por acá estaba Yaco necesitando la adopción, le dio mi número a su amiga y así hicimos el contacto.

Cuando llegué a su casa y saludé, la del grito de alegría fue Renata, la niña que ven en la foto.
Me invitaron a pasar , conversamos un buen rato de gatitos, perritos, de amistades en común, tomé café y muy cordialmente Judith me dijo que todas las veces que desee puedo ir a visitar a Yaco…y a tomar cafecito también.

I saw that Sonia had put in his status “Yaco needs to be adopted” – more words, less words – and it seemed like a good name for him.
We began to spread his photo and I decided to make a video where he appeared and a voice-over that began saying “Hello, I'm Yaco…”
