The mission to a moon with the greatest potential to host life.

NASA's long-awaited Europa Clipper mission has finally begun, marking the beginning of a historic exploration of the natural satellite Europa, one of Jupiter's icy moons, and the goal of discovering whether this mysterious world can harbor life in its subterranean ocean, just after Separating from SpaceX's Falcon Heavy rocket, the spacecraft took the first big step in its adventure.

It deployed its enormous 30 meter long solar panels, these panels will be essential providing all the energy necessary to power its systems for the next 5 years and 3,000 million kilometers of travel through deep space and the challenge is enormous Jupiter is about 500 million kilometers from Earth, but to reach Europa the ship will have to travel almost four times this distance using what we call gravitational assists, that is, it will make some flybys over Earth and Mars to gain speed and continue its long trajectory.

When the Europa Clipper finally reaches its destination around 2030, the adventure will be far from over. The spacecraft will spend approximately 3 years making almost 50 flybys over the icy surface of this Mysterious Moon and in each of those encounters it will capture detailed images and collect data. valuable data that will be sent to Earth, this data will be essential to better understand what is hidden under Europa's ice crust.

Scientists are excited about what this mission could reveal. They believe that beneath Europa's frozen surface there is a huge ocean that contains up to twice the amount of seawater we have on Earth and where there is liquid water, until it is proven. Otherwise, there is potential for life.

Some researchers even suggest that there could be hydrothermal vents at the bottom of that ocean, heating the water, in addition to chemical elements such as salt and sulfur, all fundamental ingredients for life as we know it, but before getting too excited it is important to remember that Europe Clipper was not designed to detect life directly.

Its main objective is to evaluate whether the conditions on Europa could support life in any way in the solar system. Europa is undoubtedly one of the most promising candidates in the search for life beyond Earth, the fact that it has a liquid ocean possibly A hot core and even hydrothermal vents turn this moon into a true scientific wonder.
