On my way home from Panabo City to Bukidnon, we pass through the shortest way to reach Davao City. Perhaps it was a fantastic feeling to explore Davao City, Philippines to buy some pasalubong as we go back to Bukidnon, not to mention that whenever I travel anywhere, I do not leave the place without marking footprints and bringing with me the gifts back home.
Pasalubong is a Filipino idea of finding gifts to give to family, friends, and loved ones back home after having a trip or travel from anywhere may it be in the Philippines or abroad. It does not matter how little or small it is but it is about giving love and care to everyone at home. And it is the thought that counts after all.
It was not difficult to find pasalubong in Davao since we have passed by many stores with the best pasalubong. What was hard for me was choosing which store to buy from since all of them have similar products. However, I always choose the best store with quality products at affordable prices.
When I was able to find the perfect store or fruit stand to buy the pasalubong, we parked the car for a while, and I was there busy choosing and finding what to buy. It was just a little store but it displayed many pasalubong treats that I can choose. As I saw the products, there were several sweet delights like pastillas, durian delights, tarts, candies, fresh fruits, and other delectable treats.
One of the famous fresh fruits in Davao is the Durian. It is often said that Davao City is the Durian Capital of the Philippines because it has a variety of farms in the place. Although the price of the fruit is quite expensive, I have known many Durian lovers excluding me since I do not love its smell. However, I so love durian when it is already processed like pastillas, candies, and tarts.
Aside from Durian, another delicious fruit in Davao City is Pomelo. I love how succulent and sweet the fruit is. That is why I also find it a perfect pasalubong to bring back home. I have seen how fresh the newly harvested pomelos were and many of them were in boxes.
I bought a box of it but I also bought two pieces and let it be peeled off so we could it the fresh pomelo while traveling. It was a perfect pair with a salty taste so I love dipping it in salt.
How I loved the pasalubong shopping experience as I stepped once more into Davao City. I think I have bought the perfect treats for my loved ones back home and they were all happy to receive little gifts from me. I bought a box of pomelo, 2 pieces of pomelo, and a dozen packs mixed with durian pastillas, candies, and tarts.
Meanwhile, the vendor placed the box of pomelo in the car. And what was left with me at the moment was many packs of sweet delights in tarts, pastillas, and candies. The vendor packed it in yellow plastic and I was so eager to taste it. Since I bought many packs, each packs was sold to me at 25 pesos or 0.43 dollars. I saved 10 pesos or 0.17 dollars for each pack.
Perhaps it was nice exploring the mini shops and fruit stands and the products were all enticing. After buying all the pasalubong, I went back to the car and passed by the Bukidnon-Davao road or the BuDa road going back to my home, Bukidnon. I went back home with a happy heart and big smiles. Indeed, it was a happy market day!
