Shopping For a Necessity

Introduction

Nothing is as good as getting money and spending money on the necessities of life. Who would not want to acquire if possible all the needs that makes life comfortable to live? Certainly no one. But sad to state that bad government in some countries like ours, Nigeria, have made cost of living so miserable to the poor masses. Every day, cost of things skyrocket without looking back. The Naira to Dollar rate keep on moving up from 700 to 800 since the last few months. Everything is expensive even common salt have taken its own chunk of the inflation. Nevertheless, the amazing thing is that we still find a means to keep buying things. All thanks to God almighty.

Bought Two Items Out of My Many Needs

1. Deep Freezer

2. Standing Fan

Early on Friday morning, I headed to St Michaels Market Place to seek for an affordable Deep Freezer. Getting there, most shop owners along the road were beckoning on me to come over and patronize them. But I had a place in mind since someone directed me to a certain shop where I can get a good one at affordable price. So I moved straight to the shop and behold, there were different sizes - big, medium and small.

I chose a small-medium size Deep Freezer because I need it for personal use not for business use. Menhn the price was pocket breaking, N123,000 (One Hundred and Tweenty-three Thousand Naira) which is equivalent to 246 Hives. Though my budget for the freezer was N120,000 but it wasn't for this size. I thought I could get a small-bigger size but that size have gone up to N150,000 about 300 Hives. Having no other option, I went for the small-medium size but I insisted on paying N120,000 about 240 Hives. They opened it, plugged and tested it for some minutes. It worked perfectly good.

I paid and made my way to another shop to check for a Standing Fan. Still was referred to a certain shop but this time to a warehouse where all kinds of electrical appliances are imported. Different kinds of electric bulbs were on display very beautiful site to behold.

For whatever reason of theirs, they pasted on the wall a notice - PICTURE TAKEN IS NOT ALLOWED.

How could you people do that? I need a picture for my Hiveblog post na! I told myself that I must find a way to take a photo even if a selfie. So I succeeded taking a selfie as the attendant's attention was with someone else.

Pricing the fan the cost was still high but cheaper than other shops I've made enquiry earlier. The cost was N9000 (Nine Thousand Naira) about 18 Hives. This same Fan used to cost N3500 (Three Thousand Five Hundred Naira) few years back. The inflation is very high. The attendant brought out for me one in a carton after payment. I requested that it should be opened and fixed for me, that way I can take more pictures. That was granted, one other young man to fixing it while I cautiously took pictures of the process.

The fan is for my workshop, the one there has become old and faulty though it is still fanning but the look is so embarrassing. It needs to be replaced.

May God keep helping us to survive in this country, Nigeria.

Thanks for stopping by.
