This is my entry post for #MarketFriday hosted by @dswigle.

Welcome to Madina market. Technically, this isn’t the exact or real market. The market itself is inside but it’s full. Some of the traders have therefore extended it to the roadside. The market begins just when you get down from a car at the bus stop, or for me who was coming from the other side, it begins when you cross the footbridge.

There are fruit vendors selling all kinds of fruits just at the roadside. You can get variety of fruits there without having to walk too long into the market.

You will get cassava, plantain, cereals and other foodstuffs. You will also get canned tomatoes with various brand names there.

There’s a big market for second hand goods here in Ghana. You can get all kinds of shoes imported mostly from Europe and the US here. They are often not in the best of shapes but are much cheaper than going to buy a new one.

There are also second hand clothes, not just shoes. Quiet a lot of people buy these items. The average new men’s shirt will cost you 10$ but here you can get some for 2$ and you can even negotiate to pay less than that.

Traders have occupied most of the roads so it’s even difficult for shoppers to come to the market with their cars. Whenever a car is coming, the traders will make way and just after it has passed, they reassemble their wares.

These are some pictures from Madina roadside markets. Hopefully, will get some pictures from within the market next time.
