A Wonderfully Beautiful Friday

We live in a pretty crazy world now and I realize that this global integration is not only fostering an extremely rapid spread of a new virus everywhere. Information and news are even more rapidly spread, with the speed of thought but especially of the internet.

I consider myself lucky to live, to be contemporary, with the greatest invention of the last century, the Internet. I don't want to enumerate the benefits it brings to the whole world, how it has become the promoter of the development and evolution of technology, and the future evolution of life on this earth. And yet...

And yet...

Seems like too much to me, it's like the sorcerer's apprentice has unleashed forces he can no longer control! He's accelerated our life too much, taken it to extremes.

I never thought I'd think and say that!

Especially in this post which has nothing to do with this topic. I can compare today's society, controlled and driven by the internet with a very developed, dynamic, and crowded big city. Now I realize that I miss a smaller, patriarchal, quiet city, as our life used to be.

Maybe I'm too old and that's why I think that way, maybe the young ones, the ones who were born with a phone in their pocket, are very excited and content with life now.

There were a few thoughts that came to me as I sat down to write about Friday's adventures, the day we go shopping, or we only remember the days when we went shopping. But not necessarily to buy!

Today was that day of the month again...the day I'm a companion. I accompany the wife to the hairdresser, drop her off there and I run off to see my favorite park one more time. But that's later because this beautiful day started differently. With a visit to a store dear to my wife, namely Ikea. I was bored with it long ago!

IKEA

However, I did set my eyes on a group of teddy bears. I liked them.

Ikea has an interesting and well-thought-out marketing concept. It's like an exhibition, where furniture and accessories are arranged just like in a house. This makes them much more attractive. When we visit Ikea we do it mostly to find new ideas for home furnishing. We, I mean I get ideas and the wife actually does the shopping. Chiat if we go with a budget made, it is always far exceeded. I try to go to this store as seldom as possible and this is where the pandemic has helped. Even though it seems unnatural, I think the pandemic has had some good effects on us.

Now follows a short trip through Ikea.

Different attractive arrangements, I found some ideas to change something at home. My wife found more than that, a few bed linens that I liked too but something else is in store for the future. Something harder. I think I'll have to change the kitchen countertop.

Ikea knows how to make money, they know what their customers need. They know that after a tour of the store everyone needs at least a coffee. But many want even more. Like me. Something to eat!

From the first floor of the shop, where the restaurant is, we have a view over the shopping complex. This is one of the largest in Bucharest. Baneasa shopping complex.

Hairdresser next. Away from Ikea, on the other side of town. Heavy traffic, how else can it be in Bucharest, one of the busiest cities in Europe. We also passed the monster in the center. The building that should have been a dictator's palace, even if he had called it, in his hypocrisy, the People's House. Now it is called the Palace of Parliament, other hypocrites, and it is still the second-largest building in the world after the Pentagon. Bigger than Cheops' pyramid!

Now I go back to the beginning of the post, I was saying something like this...

Today was that day of the month again...the day I'm a companion. I accompany the wife to the hairdresser, drop her off there and I run off to see my favorite park one more time.

For almost an hour I know the wife is busy and I know where she is. That reminds me of a joke... true. Actually, it's a question.

"Do you know what they call a woman who always knows where her husband is?... Widow!"

Every month I come to this place. Every time I rush to the park. At the end of exploring the park, I go to the nearby flower shop. Today I did the opposite.

My favorite flower shop

There are many flower shops in town. Most of them are well decorated but with expensive flowers. This is a small flower shop and with cheap flowers. Displayed directly in the street. The flower shop is at the end of this alley.

I like to leave my image reflected in its window.

img_20211112_111241.jpg

Just a few flowers. The others... another time.

I bought some roses that I want to plant in my yard and ran to the park. I was anxious, it's still my favorite park. The park reminds me of a fetish park of mine, which I saw in my youth in the movie Blow-up. A park I knew nothing about, I thought it was in London but didn't have confirmation. The confirmation and even the name of the park I got from @dswigle and I thank her again now. Maryon Park. My park in Bucharest is Circus Park!

I hope I have chosen a few images representative of the beauty of the park in autumn. Just a few images, the rest will come in another post.

The dog

I went to retrieve my wife, the same wife now with less hair on her head. By the time I got to the hairdresser, I saw a good, sad, faithful and obedient dog. Left loose in front of the shop, he didn't move from there waiting for his master. Incredible and remarkable!

I had four dogs, not all at once but one at a time. None of them listened to me.

The pastry shop

Just like I have my favorite flower shop in this part of town and my wife has a favorite pastry shop that she always buys from when she comes to the hairdresser. And here the pies are good and cheap.

A few hours spent away from home for shopping and services that must pay. Glad I made it all acceptable on #marketfriday, as @dswigle wishes.

I love it at home and after a few hours, I already miss it. But I found my way home!

This simple song, which sounds like a song made by children for children. Video made in 1982, so outdated, out of fashion. Jon Anderson miming playing that seemingly too-small guitar. Vangelis on the organ, some random guy who I can only say (I'm referring to what the video conveys to me) looks like the handsome Brian Ferry, top of the face, I didn't notice that until now. The audience is dancing so ridiculously, the whole thing looks amateurish. And yet, what a great song. I love it!

Off to the house, where I have to plant roses.

img_20211112_152941.jpg

I was supposed to plant the roses but I put it off until Saturday. Instead, I made coffee and started preparing the post for the MarketFriday community.

img_20211112_154021.jpg

I almost forgot the flower, even though there have been a few flowers so far. The special closing flower, #alwaysaflower!

img_20211112_112549.jpg

It was a wonderfully beautiful Friday, I almost forgot about the pandemic. It was a day full of everything and I'm glad I had the opportunity to tell it so warm (i.e. fresh) that I won't forget it!
