..........is located in an old multi-cultured and highly populated suburb of West End in Brisbane. Until you are told that this ordinary two storey red brick building is the historical Queensland Ballet School.
The space between the old school and new centre is very small emphasising the extreme differences. Of course there is a lot of community speculation as to why this decision was made.
Currently the Ballet School is surrounded with fencing for an update along with a major development of new very different looking Thomas Dixon Centre, being currently constructed very closely next door. It has taken two years and predicted to be completed in 12 months. Covid has caused delays of building materials and it is not expected to be due completed until next year.
This is a photo showsthe back of the Thomas Dixon Centre.
Here is a photo showing the front of the old Ballet School and the Thomas Dixon Centre.
The old and new side by side each with a role to play. From what I am told the new update modern Thomas Dixon Centre will have a spectacular performance centre along with restaurants, bars and dance studios.
But, at this present time I am working solely on supposition that the old Ballet School will continue to be a working ballet place for the students and the community, for the older population, the disabled and for those who have diseases like Parkinson.
Drat and bummer there was no climbing over walls, and it was not physically dangerous or dirty like @slobberchops. I was even decked out with my big walking boots and long trousers etc. All I could do was poke my camera through narrow spots to actually see what was going on.
Even worse my little adventurous creeping into the old Ballet School failed, I was caught and cautioned by an over zealous health and safety worker. So, taking photos photos from the outside looking in was my last resort!
