The Hidden Motives Behind Help and Self-Reliance

I've learned over time that it's not always good to rely completely on other people for help. Some individuals enjoy being in control, telling you what to do, even when they're unsure if their advice will lead to a positive outcome. It's better to be independent. Take advice, but not orders. Think for yourself, and if you must follow someone’s suggestion, make sure to reflect on it first. Make yourself a valuable resource, think outside the box, and avoid talking too much when it's unnecessary.

One thing I know for sure is that people often use others to achieve their own goals. They may act as if they are helping out of duty, but the truth is, nothing is truly free, even in so-called “free lands.” When someone offers assistance, they usually expect something in return, whether it's money or some other favour. That’s why it's important to question the motive behind any sudden offer of support, especially if you didn't ask for it or don't need it.

The human mind can be full of selfishness, and sometimes this gets unleashed on unsuspecting victims. I'm not saying that all people are evil, but many tend to let negative feelings like envy or jealousy influence their actions. For instance, friends may become enemies if you achieve more success than they do. Instead of lifting you, they might try to bring you down. Sometimes, an enemy might be more loyal than a friend because they have more to prove. As the saying goes, “An enemy you know can do no harm.”

Friends can turn on you when they feel insecure or when they believe you’re ahead of them. They may even remind you of the times they helped you in the past, especially when they’re in a tough spot themselves. It’s as if they want you to feel indebted to them for your success. While it’s true that no one achieves success completely on their own, it's better to surround yourself with people who benefit from being part of your plans. If someone has little or nothing to gain from your success, their help may not be as genuine. It’s always best to make your intentions clear—let others know how they can profit or benefit if they support you.

These are just my thoughts, nothing more.
