A Lineman’s View ~ In the Middle of Nowhere

Received a couple outage calls about flickering lights and pumps not working. Sounds like we have a phase that is open somewhere. The location... the middle of nowhere. It’s over an hour drive north of town and once you get there it is no picnic getting around. You can’t just follow the pole line, you can check 5-7 poles then you have to drive out and around take some 2-track dirt roads and then you might be able to see another 5 poles. I am talking “see” them not get to them. In my bucket truck anyway. We have other fun toys for that. Lol</div

What ended up happening is an energized broke and hit the ground. Now it is drier than a popcorn fart out in this area and it started a little fire. I have a feeling with how much the wind blows in this area, everything is vibrating and constantly moving. So the wire must have been running on the insulator tie or something and finally broke... or someone shot it with their rifle. Hey it happens trust me. Lol

Well it isn’t the most spectacular view but it just goes to she the variety of terrain in my neck of the woods. Speaking of woods, I need to take the family and to a bit of cruising around in the woods.

Until Next Time...
