Day 4 of the Debmar Atlantic 2024 job. Saturday work but Sunday off!

Hello everyone. Today I did a 9 hour shift on a Saturday at the Docks.

We completed more service work on the Air Handling Units and I completed more of the partial Technical Reports.

The way it works here is that you have a Technical Report split into 4 Phases. This is then populated as you do the work. I submit partially done Technical Reports throughout the Project.

But the job is done for now! Fatigue day tomorrow so I am off site, as is our whole team.

Here is a picture of the bay from the ship we are working on, looking out to other piers where other vessels are moored. The water was so calm and flat.

This site is pretty bonkers. Its dust and stone and noise and machines and it feels like you are in a rural place because you need petrol generators for power and there is no running water... but the backdrop to this is the City of Cape Town CBD looming over the edge of the Transnet Port grounds.

Here is a shot taken looking at the vessel and the gangway. There is a crane on the left in yellow and black. You can also see barricades and stacks of scaffolding.

Another thing to notice is the colours that people wear. What is nice about the syston on site is that you can see, at a glance what someone's function is and with that, know how to co-ordinate with them.

Yellow overalls are Safety Observers. They are part of the Safety Management System on site.
Orange overalls are Crew.
Anyone wearing a Pink bib is a rigger or rigger assistant and are the only ones you will see doing rigging on site.
The Brown overall with the yellow stripes you see on the right is a Southey Scaffolding employee.

I did not do much posting on Hive today, but I shall catch up tomorrow!

Have a good evening everyone! Thank you for reading this post!

Cheers!
