Afri-tunes Wk 86 - "Gone For Good By Simi" Cover

Hello Afri-tunes community!
It's another week and Merit is here once to share an African tune, I'm always happy to be able to share African music every week, it's fulfilling and fun.

So for this week, I decided to do the cover of the song "Gone For Good sang by Simi, a Nigerian female artist.

I've become a huge fan of Simi as I've seen that a lot of her songs are in my playlist, I'm yet to learn all so I share a cover of the ones I know well enough. This one was recently added to my playlist and I think it's one of the easiest for me to learn since she didn't use yoruba in it like her other songs hehe.

The song is about going through heartbreak, a couple breaks up but one appears some time later to make the other confused and feeling like she is yet to move on. It's meant to be a sad song but not so sad if you ask me.

I did the backups for the bridge part of the song, I must say this song gave me mixed feelings and challenges while I prepared it especially with following the beat. But I'm glad I've been able to come up with it and ready to share.

I hope you do enjoy my cover of the song as much as I did, and I look forward to sharing more African music. Special thanks to my supporters, those giving me corrections which helps to make my videos come out better and thanks for viewing!!!

Song Lyrics

The word around town
Is that, you're back in town
And I... try not to think about it, I try
But it's been so long
And I, thought I moved on
But... now I really doubt it, I do
I wonder why you even come
It's almost like you having fun with me
But oh if I set my eyes on you
It's unavoidable, I'll come undone
Oh I thought you were gone for good

So why do you have to pull me back
Sheybi you say
You won't be coming back o
Damn you, this is really bad
Sheybi you say
You were gone for good
