There's something about accompanying Igbo praise and worship songs with the electric lead guitar that makes me appreciate it more. Maybe it's the coolness and calmness of the rhythm/beat that does the magic or maybe its because I'm a fan of Highlife music. But, I believe the calmness makes it easier for the lead guitarist to give some sweet guitar lead lines without having to stress himself. You really don't need extra speed to give some sweet solo lines, just flow with the groove and you'll realize that each note you play will be worth it.
@magicfingerz can surely relate with this feeling, and I'm sure the great baba is also missing it. Its something you can play for hours without getting tired or out of notes because of the heavy reliance on creating sweet rhythm as compared to jumping up and down with solo.
One other reason I think it's this way is because of the organization of the instruments, such that all instruments play vital role in the song. Hence, when each instrument/Instrumentalist is called to give an interlude, then they'll perform their best in just the short time alloted.
I went home to my parent's place and after my cousins and I sang and played for hours, I remembered that we could do one song and I'll use for Afri-tunes. Well, we decided to pick this beautiful song, "There's a Beautiful Home."
The song is an eulogy about the Heavenly Home, where God dwells with His angels. It speaks about how beautiful this heavenly abode is, and how the angels and saints sing and praise God.
Chinedu does the singing, Ksam plays the guitar and Victor hits two drum sticks. Yea, they are both drummers (including my immediate elder brother who is their tutor - not in the video).
I hope you enjoy this piece.
All rewards will be shared.

There is a beautiful home
in a far away land
where the saints of God
