Afritunes #101 || Fountain Of Life (cover) by @jessicaossom

I'm excited to share with you all my musical cover that I uploaded this week for Afritunes. I decided to revisit and record a rendition of an old gospel favorite from my childhood - the song with the lyrics "Fountain of life is flowing like a living water, it's flowing from the throne of God fill me up."

Even though it's been years since I first heard and learned this song, the lyrics and melody have stuck with me. I unfortunately don't know the original composer of the song, but I remember singing it frequently when I was younger at my childhood church. The imagery of the fountain of life and living water flowing from God's throne just left such an impression on me.

Whenever I hear or sing this song, I'm reminded of the boundless hope and life we have in Christ. I think the song paints such a vivid picture of the renewal and refreshment God freely offers us. The chorus is also an earnest yearning and cry for more of God in our lives.

As I've gotten older, this song has taken on new meaning for me as well. When life feels dry or draining, the lyrics remind me to turn to God as the infinite source of love, joy, comfort, and peace. No matter what I face, I know His fountain is always full and His water is always living.
I tried to capture some of the nostalgia but also new perspective I have on the song in my a cappella cover. Singing it raw brought back memories of learning to sing as a child in church. But I also got emotional realizing how God has remained a fountain of life for me all these years later.

I'd love to know if any of you have had similar experiences rediscovering a childhood worship song. Please let me know in the comments if there are any old hymns or gospel tunes that hold special meaning for you as well!

I hope this rendition of a song from my formative years uplifts your spirit. May we never stop seeking the fountain of life that flows freely for you and me.
