Let's talk music. The GanGan drum(The Talking drum)

According to Wikipedia,

The origins of music remain highly contentious; commentators often relate it to the origin of language, with much disagreement surrounding whether music arose before, after, or simultaneously with language.

In ancient Yoruba land, music was one of their customs, but a particular drum is used in all celebrations. Even in the modern day, the drum is still being used, and right now, it has been included in contemporary music to make it more enjoyable. International artists like Mohbad, Davido, Olamide, Burnaboy, and many more use this drum in their music.

This drum is known as the "Talking drum" in our native tongue; we call it "GanGan"

The GanGan is a traditional drum and because of that, it is not accepted in many places. It is believed that the drum is an instrument which is used to communicate with the gods. In Yoruba land, the drum GanGan can be used to pass messages. The drum can produce three sounds depending on how you play it. These sounds are categorized into "Do Re Mi" The sounds are also used to reach the Yoruba language which made it very easy for the Yoruba people to understand the message the drummer is trying to pass.

As time went on, people started introducing the drum into modern music. The drum is now used in church, parties, ceremonies, popular music, etc.

As a drum in church, when I am drumming, I make sure to listen to what the GanGan drummer wants to say with his drum so I can play it on the drum set.

GanGan is one one of the most used drum in any gathering where music will be played, especially live music.

Here is an example of the GanGan being playing making different sounds.
