AFRI-INLEO INITIATIVE 6: 🎡 HOW THE RHYTHM RESONATES WITH ME THE MOST IN MUSIC AS AN INSTRUMENTALIST πŸŽΉπŸ•Ί

Music involves the combination of sounds which are pleasant to the hearing and this differentiates it from noise. Music can involve both vocals and the instrumentals or each separately as in acapella or orchestra. In musical piece, there will be a melody which speaks about the tune or notes as in how they are combined to bring the pleasantness. There is also the rhythm which speaks about the pattern, flow, sequence, arrangement which is very key. Also, there is lyrics which are the words of a musical composition or piece.

The lyrics, the rhythm and the melody are all important in music. It is good to know that these three are different and seperate as it is possible for a musical piece to have good rhythm and to be melodious but the lyrics are of a poor content. Same with a song with a good lyrical content but poor rhythm and melody. That's why it takes a balance of the three to have a good music as different individuals looks for different aspects of the musical piece whether the lyrics, rhythm or melody.

As someone who is into music for more than two decades majorly as an instrumentalist, what resonates with me most or my first catch of any musical piece is the rhythm i.e. the pattern, sequence, flow, order of that musical piece. By this, i study the timing, the beat, the progression of such music and gain mastery of it. A song with a good rhythm will definitely be my catch and by this i can flow easily with the song. As a keyboardist, if i miss the rhythm of a song or didn't get it, then i know there will be a problem same for a lead vocalist who forget the lyrics of a songπŸ˜€. No matter the genre of the musical piece, the rhythm is my first catch or what attracts/resonates with me first.

After the rhythm, then the melody is what resonates with me the second as this relates to how the musical notes/tones are arranged to give a pleasant effect. Melodies are built on rhythm (which i see as foundational) except for few types of music. When the rhythm is perfect and the melody is good/pleasant, i appreciate such music. The lyrics is the least that resonates with me most though I'm really working on this in recent times. I love songs with a good lyrical content i.e. songs with lyrics that educates, informs or enlightens not vulgar or provocative ones.

Based on the area of interest and connection to music, this is what will determine what resonates with each individual. For example, a singer will definitely go for lyrics while a music composer will go for probably the three. Therefore for me, the rhythm resonates with me the most as there are many songs i know the rhythm and even the melody but not vast with their lyrics based on my peculiarity as an instrumentalist though i have started to go for lyrics too now as i engage in singing of recent times. Thank you for reading and comments, contributions are welcomed.
