Making Hash with Micron Filter Bags and Cannabis Leaf Trimmings + Sampling

I made some high quality hash with micron filter bags, ice water, and cannabis leaf trimmings - a tasty THC buzz, and citrus flavor concentrate.

Micron Filter Bags

Micron filter bags have filters in the bottom of them, so small that the holes are measured in microns.

Eight grades of filter bags came with this set, with filters from 220 to 25 microns. It also came with a 25 micron filter mat for squeezing excess moisture out of the hash.

The bag design is for draping and stacking the filters into a bucket. I went with 25, 90, 160, and 220 micron filter bags for multiple grades of hash.

The THC trichomes from the cannabis plant matter will pass through the 220 filter, leaving the matter behind, but the trichomes will not pass through the 25 micron filter bag, being captured as high grade hash.

Leaf Trimmings

I saved the leaf and tiny bud trimmings from the past three harvests, the Pink Apricot, Orange Barb, and Pink Apricot clone.

The shinny little crystals on the leaves are the THC trichomes, also called kief, the trichomes are collected to make hash.

Ice Bath

The leaf trimmings are placed into a large mixing bowl, topped with ice, then filled with water. The ice water is blended with the mixer for good measure.

The ice water shatters and releases the trichomes from the vegetative matter, the mixing aids in this process.

Poured into Filter Bags

The blended ice cold mixture is poured into the the bucket with the micron bag filters, a mashing tool is used to mix and mash down the slurry as the water filters through.

Drained and Refilled

The bucket has a drink hole at the bottom that drains into the sink as more bowls of cold water are poured into the top.

Filtered Trichomes

The vegetative plant matter barely gets through the 220 filter, but not the 160. Trichomes filled the 90 and mostly the 25 micron filters, the hash that made it to the 25 micron bag being the highest quality and THC percentage.

Excess Moisture Removed

The 25 micron filter mat is folded over and the moisture squeezed out of the hash. The hash trichomes are too large to pass through the filter, only the water is squeezed out.

Hash Dried

After a couple days in the open air the hash has been sufficiently dried for storage.

Breaking the hash piece open you can see it has dried all the way through. If the hash is not sufficiently dried, then there is the risk of mold growth, just like with food.

Three grams total of the high THC potency hash after drying. It just takes a few tiny pieces, like 0.1 grams of it, to spruce up a joint or bowl.

The Flavors

That extra sparkle to it, concentrated citrus spritzer, it has a nice zing to it like a mini smelling salt rush, mouth tingling and brain tickling zeal.

The Feels

The concentrated THC hash addition livens up any buds, gives it that extra kick. You can see that extra thick hash smoke trailing, tasty.
