You know that feeling when you open your eyes, peek outside, and see a blanket of fog hugging everything in sight? That’s my signal to grab my drone and GO! I’m not talking about jumping into a plane or anything (I wish!), just my handy little drone that lets me see the world from above. Because up there, beyond the fog, that’s where the magic happens. And when you’re freezing outside at the crack of dawn, hands shaking not just from excitement but because it’s COLD, you know it’s going to be worth it. The fog waits for no one, and sometimes it disappears in the blink of an eye. No one wants to miss that shot!
Every time I fly ( I’m still learning!), there’s this thrill, like, what surprise is waiting up there today? I’m still a bit amazed by how quickly the view changes as you go higher and suddenly you’re above the clouds. Well, above the fog...or are they clouds? Let’s settle that debate right here, shall we? Apparently, fog is just a low-flying cloud that happens below 15 meters! Above that, it’s called a cloud. Thank you, Google, for helping me sound a bit smarter. 😊
When my drone takes off, I’m like a kid in a candy shop. I’m no pro, and let’s be honest, my editing skills could use a boost, but who cares? The pure joy of capturing these scenes makes up for any rookie status I might have. The photos I’ve managed to take over the years are crazy, some of them have this eerie but stunning quality, as if the fog itself was just waiting for me. I’ve gathered some of my favorite shots here, and I’m so excited to share them with you!
Honestly, it’s hard to describe the beauty you see when you’re above the fog. It’s like a whole new perspective on the world. Imagine looking down and seeing soft waves of mist rolling across the trees, with maybe just a little break here and there where the land peeks through. It’s peaceful, surreal, and worth every shiver and numb finger.
Flying a drone is like stepping into a secret world that you can’t see with your own eyes, at least, not from the ground. It’s almost like a little taste of what it’d be like to soar like a bird. And I think that’s my favorite part of it all... this feeling of freedom and the thrill of capturing something truly unique. It doesn’t matter that I’m not perfect at it or that I still sometimes get mixed up about fog versus cloud. What matters is that moment when I look at the footage, and it’s pure magic.
So here’s to waking up to foggy mornings, grabbing my drone, and chasing those clouds (or fog…or whatever you want to call it) for as long as they’ll hang around. I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed capturing them!
