Albion Waterfall in Stoney Creek Ontario, used to be a favorite destination for many people. This was drastically increased when the city of Hamilton started to promote itself as the city of waterfalls and tourists began to come in large numbers. It could have been great! But in typical government fashion, they promoted, encouraged and drew in more visitors. Without setting up any infrastructure to accommodate it. Leading to several injuries and deaths!
Rather than putting any effort or money into doing what needed to be fixed, the city decided to completely close off the waterfall to everyone. Bylaw officers patrolling it 7 days a week and issuing large tickets to anyone who attempts getting close to the waterfall. The only time they aren't patrolling is at night, so it's perfect for a night hike and steel wool!
We started under and overpass, made our way up the stream and got right to the bottom of the falls.
