Wednesday Walk playing with light

Wednesday Walk playing with light

This post if for Wednesday walk challenge
Any questions about the challenge read the guide at the Bottom of the post ;)

For this weeks post I thought i would share something a little different and do some light painting one morning

A few years back I had bought a pixelstick and used it a few times its a cool tool for light painting in the dark, and I thought about it recently and searched all around the house ands could not find it, not sure if I lost it in our move, but thinking about it I wanted to get into trying some light painting again

One problem I had with the pixelstick at the time was it was quite long and one piece does all, I think it was about 6 foot long, and I wanted something a bit more easy to handle and flexible and after doing some research decided to buy and try some products from a company called Ants on a Melon, yeah I know a strange name but they do make some cool stuff, the first thing being an LED flashlight called the RGB Critter, they are one version 2 so I bought the RGB critter 2 and they have all kinds of attachments, I bought a few bits to try and these shots I share today were with a tool called the Modular Sol Saber, they come in different sizes and the sol saber I ordered was 24 inches long, and the cool thing is they are as the name suggest modular, so if you wish you can add other modular pieces together.
I did buy a few bits but for the first attempt I just used the Saber and a clear acrylic blade attached to the end.

This was my first time trying it out so really was a trial and error session trying to work out all the settings and swing it around, and I didn't think I would get enough shots in this session for a post and even though I feel I got more errors than good I think they are worth sharing

here's the first one I share

Defintely an error as I was walking back tot he camera instead of clicking the button to turn off the torch I changed colors

and anothe rone that didnt come out as planned

After twirling it around trying to make an orb like figure I left it on as I walked back to the camera and perhaps would have bene OK if I did that but turned it off before i got tot he camera

So I tried doing that with the next shot

That one I was quite happy with

so I tried another one, this time instead of walking towards the camera i did some swirls moving away from the water

OK let me correct myself I did not so much go for more reds just happened to switch to reds by pushing buttons lOL
But it was as I said a trial run and I did work out better how to switch between modes and colors

and one last one to finish off

I did take it out again the next day and tried some other effects but I wasnt feeling that great that morning and went out later it was a bit to late and the light was coming out so not ideal, and then we had a couple of cold days and I am still feeling run down so have not tried it out again yet

Weekly giveaway of shares

This week I am sending to the following who joined Wednesday Walk, for this week I did a random draw and the following each received some Hive @jeansapphire, @riverflows, @nickydee @sofs-su @tht @sunshine29

Wednesday Walk is a challenge started by me, the idea is to get out for a short walk and get some shots of what you can see within a short distance of your home office or wherever you start. And this is my entry for this week, but first, let me explain the challenge.

This is my post for the Wednesday Walk challenge hosted by myself, let me first explain the guidelines

Try and get out once a week for a short walk, can be from your office, home or anywhere really and walk for a few blocks or a few minutes looking for things to get shots of.

Your walk does not have to be on a Wednesday I just ask if possible to share your walk photos on a Wednesday.

Try and get a few shots not just one

Add a bit of a write up about where you walked

Just one Wednesday Walk tagged post a week

You can look for anything in general or decide on one subject you want to get shots off.

Make a point of looking around and up and see what you can find to get shots of that otherwise you may miss

Do a post with the shots you get on a Wednesday and tag it with #wednesdaywalk, also if you happen to join, please leave a link to your post in a comment on this post and I will try and visit them all, especially if its not one of the first 5 tags or I may miss seeing it .

Following me and re-Hiving the post so more see it would be appreciated but isn't a rule just a suggestion.

I am not strict on these rules and hence why they are called guidelines and not rules

I will try and visit, and upvote all who take part in the Wednesday Walk.

I hope a few of you may find this an interesting challenge and decide to join in.

unless stated otherwise all photos used in my posts are taken and owned by myself, if you wish to use any of my images please contact me.
