I needed to go grocery shopping last week. I chose a cheap grocery store in the Novodvorská housing estate as my destination. But instead of getting there by public transport. I decided to walk and take pictures. This time I set out without a predetermined theme. And I was hoping that some theme would develop along the way based on what I would see.
Minulý týden jsem si potřeboval dojít nakoupit potraviny. Jako cíl jsem vybral obchod s levnými potravinami na sídlišti Novodvorská. Ale místo toho abych tam dojel hromadnou dopravou. Rozhodl jsem se jít pěšky a přitom fotit. Tentorkát jsem vyrazil bez předem daného tématu. A doufal jsem, že se nějaké téma vyvine cestou na základě toho co uvidím.
At first I was drawn to plants and greens in general. Which turned out to be the first theme.
Nejprve jsem byl přitáhnut k rostlinám a zeleni všeobecně. Což se ukázalo jako první téma.
But over time, I began to focus more on the other colors that the road through the housing estate offered. And somehow subconsciously I started looking for different colors that go well with greens.
Jenže postupem času jsem se začal více zaměřovat i na další barvy, které cesta sídlištěm nabízela. A nějak podvědomě jsem začal vyhledávat různé barvy, které se hodí k zeleni.
Until finally a theme emerged. Housing estate and greenery. In the Czech Republic, many people curse socialist housing estates. And if I compare it with the modern construction, there is a lot of greenery in the former construction.
Až se nakonec vyklubalo téma. Sídliště a zeleň. V Čechách spousta lidí nadává na socialistická sídliště. A když to srovnám s novodobou výstavbou tak je v té bývalé výstavbě velké množství zeleně.
Previously, the houses were grey, but the housing estates are gradually being reconstructed. Colors give housing estates a completely different look. And combined with 30+ year old plantings, it's taken the lives of various wildlife. Not only insects, but also birds and small mammals.
Dříve byly domy šedivé, ale co se sídliště postupně rekonstruují. Barvy dodávají sídlištím naprosto jiný vzhled. A v kombinaci s 30 a více let starou výsadbou, je to umočněno o život různých divokých živočichů. Nejenom hmyzu, ale i ptactva a malých savců.
