📷 Winter Sunrise

Today I have some fresh photos taken this morning :)

New Jerusalem Monastery is the monastery of the Russian Orthodox Church in the town of Istra, Moscow region. It was founded in 1656 by Patriarch Nikon, who was inspired by the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem.

The main architectural dominant of the monastery is the Cathedral of the Resurrection, completed in 1685, and the bell tower adjoining it. During the centuries, the cathedral was destroyed several times and, accordingly, was restored and rebuilt. The current look is not completely, but largely corresponds to the original.

For several decades, there was a museum on its territory, but at the end of the 20th century, the monastery was returned to the church. As a photographer, it seems to me that it is beautiful in its modern form, at least from the outside. I have not been inside, on the territory of the monastery, but this is the second time I have come to take pictures of the monastery from this point.

A bird's-eye view of the sunrise over the monastery in summer you can find here, if interested :) Today the weather was not very good for the drone, and the sun rose and immediately hid in dense clouds. An old windmill and the Istra River (at the bottom of the picture) can also be seen in the last photo.

It's highly recommended to watch the photos in high resolution.
