Hey there my Hive friends and followers!
A couple of days ago, I was really surprised when I found out that the little pond that is literally just a few minutes walk from our apartment here in the suburbs of Prague would host the Czech National Flyboarding Championship. The event took place last Saturday and it was so close to our apartment that we could actually hear the presenter talking to the mike from our balcony. But of course we headed out to the pond as well to see what all the fuss was about.
If you haven´t heard of flyboarding before, you might want to check out this article from Wikipedia. It´s a new water sport that was invented as recently as in 2012 but it has been getting popular in many parts of the world lately. It looks very cool as it indeed gives the impression that the flyboard riders are kind of flying :)
We stopped by the pond to see the performance of a couple of competitors and it was quite a spectacle but the photos that I took there for you guys are far from spectacular, unfortunately. In my previous posts, I have mentioned several times already that we have been having an unusually sunny and warm September this year but on that day, the weather was horrible. It was so dark and cloudy that the pictures almost look as if they were taken at night :D :/ I did my best but the post processing didn´t help much. I will still show you though as it´s not a sport that you get to see every day...
I hope you got some idea of what this sport looks like from these shots despite their poor quality. I was thinking about putting them into monochrome, which is a trick I sometimes use when I end up shooting under extremely cloudy skies, but it looked even worse so I left them in the colored form.
By the way, if you wonder what that huge pipe is, that´s actually a tube connecting two stations of the Prague subway. I guess the subway constructors didn´t want to dig deep under the pond so they decided to build this section of the route up in the air instead. Looks pretty cool, I know :)
